Advantages of buying books online

Traditional editing and bookprinting circuits have changed dramatically in a few years, mainly because of new technologies. Today, any author can self-publish a book online and print it fairly easily.

Cevagraf’s online bookprinting service is ideal for authors who self-publish in small runs, small and medium-sized publishers, associations that wish to print Reports or other documents with spine, doctors who want to print their theses etc. Why? Because thanks to our digital printing machines we can print books at affordable prices even in the case of very short print runs.

As online book printers, we provide book printing in standardized formats, which also makes our prices to be even more competitive.

In our online printing site you can choose between two systems for binding your book:

Paperback: also known as "soft cover": A top-quality bookbinding at a great price.

Hardcover: Designed for products that require a greater appearance and strength.

Digital book printing

When it comes to printing books online, being an offset & digital printer provides a lot of advantages to our customers. We use both printing technologies, and our prices and rates take into account when it’s cheaper to print the book digital and when to use offset printing.

Our online store is smart enough to give you the cheapest price according to your requirements, no difference if you want offset printing or digital printing, it just looks for and provides you the best price.

Internally we know which technology the online store has chosen in order to print your books, and although it may be a bit of alarming (because you don’t know the technology we’re going to use), we assure you that you will not notice the difference, test it for yourself.

Today digital printing is no mystery, it is a proven technology. It works, and provides excellent quality. The issue is not quality, but price. Obviously, price depends on the quantity of books you need. Formerly everything had to be offset-printed, and this caused short runs to be much more expensive. Nowadays short runs are possible, and much cheaper thanks to digital printing technology.

Those who have tried it, they know it. We know it, that's why our rates do not differentiate technologies. We are absolutely confident that the end users will not realize the printing method used, and in return they will always get the best price for they online book printings.

Why read printed books?

We don’t want to miss the opportunity to defend and provide reasons for reading printed books. Our business is clearly the printing of books, we are book printers, so we confess we are very interested in showing the many advantages of printed books.

In our view, and in the view of many other people, the main advantages of reading printed books are:

- The number of pages that can be read in one sitting is greater. Of course, this depends on the reader, but on average the number of pages is greater.

- You can read faster in the printed version than in the digital version.

- The eyes do not get tired so much in each session of reading on print, compared with texts displayed on digital devices.

- Moving from one page to another (in case you want to re-read something) is easier with a printed book.

- Although it is a symbolic reason: there is nothing better than the smell and texture that a good book can provide.

These few reasons are enough for us to make up our mind and read printed books. If you need more information on this topic you can access the following link and you’ll find more and more interesting reasons:

Parts of a printed book

Jacket: he jacket or liner of a book is a rectangular wrapping made of paper, cardboard or other similar material that covers the book’s front and back. Frequently illustrated and usually removable, with two tabs, one of them folded on the front and the other on the back. These tabs often display information about the book, the author, or other books in the same collection.

Cover: The cover is one of the first inner leaves, which usually reproduces the information from the outer cover. So the word “covers” (plural) is also used to denote the outer part of the book, enveloping the book block. The covers include four parts: front cover, inside front cover, inside back cover and back cover. The front cover and back cover are visible when the book is closed.

Spine: This element is between the front cover and the back cover. Usually the book title, author name, collection number or volume and the publishing house logo are printed on the spine.

Endpapers: leaves that keep together the covers and the rest of the book.

Flyleaf: it’s the page previous to the title page on which the title of the book is usually printed

Title page: this is the page where the book title, author and publishing house data are printed

Credits page (imprint): it is the back page of the title page, on which are usually found the copyright, publisher, dates of book editions, reprints, legal deposit, the original title (in case it’s a translation), design and layout credits ...

Blank pages: Pages left intentionally blank at the beginning and the end of the book.

Textblock: set of sheets that make up the book's text.

Page: One of the sides of a sheet. A sheet is made up of two pages, the front and back.

Print softcover books

Softcover binding, also known as Paperback, is a type of binding in which the book, sewn or glued, is simply lined with a paper or cardboard cover, usually strong but not necessarily rigid, and glued against the book spine. This binding is mainly used to print thick magazines and corporate catalogs, and books of all kinds. This type of binding will make your printed product stand out, and above all it’ll transmit a feeling of higher quality than the effect you can get by using stapled binding.

There are different types of Paperback binding available:
Perfect Binding: Binding edges on the book block are milled along the spine edge to create a rough surface and then glue is used for wrapping the cover around the book block.
Sewn Paperback: As the name implies, this type is characterized by sewing the sheets that make up the book, that is, the sheets are sewn together and then glued to the cover.
PUR Paperback is exactly like Perfect Binding, with the main difference that the glue used is very strong, much more than the one used on perfect bound books.

Print hardcover books

Also known as Case Binding, It is a type of binding in which the book block (sewn or glued), is cased into a rigid cardboard cover. This cover wraps around the book in all its external surfaces. The inner sides of the covers are made of paper and the inner spine (not visible, as is covered by the outer spine) is made of fabric, but it may also be paper.

You should use this binding if you want to get a durable, top-quality book. It is the quality book finishing par excellence, and it is also the most expensive type of binding, since the process is more manual.

In Cevagraf, SCCL we specialize in this type of binding as well as in PUR and Sewn Paperback. We are professionals of bookprinting and now you can also place your order online, with the best price highest quality. Just as Paperbacks, Hardcover books can also be sewn or glued, but in this case the cover is hardened by using a 2 mm cardboard, thus providing the robustness expected for this type of bookbinding.
